Itinerary idea in detail

Including international and domestic rail transfers

  • From London, you’ll take the Eurostar to Brussels and connect with a high-speed Thalys train to Cologne, in a journey of just over five hours. Arriving in Cologne, you’ll check into your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

  • Join a private guide for a walking tour of Cologne’s highlights, including medieval Cologne Cathedral. Following the tour, you’ll join a shared river cruise to soak in panoramic views of the city from the Rhine River.

  • Continue south by Intercity Express train along the Rhine Valley, cutting through the Black Forest and into Switzerland. You’ll spend the night in Basel and have the afternoon to explore the city.

  • This morning you’ll board a train for an hour-long journey to the historic town of Lucerne. Set on the eponymous lake and surrounded by mountain peaks, Lucerne represents one of Switzerland’s finest examples of medieval architecture. The afternoon is yours to visit the Glacier Garden and walk along the Musegg Wall, the town’s tower-punctuated fortifications.

  • Take to the lake this morning for a panoramic boat cruise. Afterwards, you can join a local artisan chocolatier for a private chocolate tasting.

  • Journey on one of Switzerland’s scenic train routes into the heart of the Bernese Oberland and spend the next two nights in the Alpine town of Grindelwald. In the afternoon, walk up the mountain for a hike among the meadows and around a glacial lake.

  • Head to the Top of Europe at Jungfraujoch for close-up views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks as the Aletsch Glacier stretches out below you. Return to Grindelwald and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

  • Today, you’ll travel by train back to Basel to connect onto a high-speed train bound for Paris. Upon arrival you will be brought to your well-located hotel for an overnight.

  • This morning you will be collected from your hotel and brought to the train station for your Eurostar train home.
