Coconut Lagoon, Backwaters, India
As this resort is located on the eastern shore of Lake Vembanad and only reachable by boat, you will be picked up from your embarkation point by the hotel's own launch. The cottages are styled on typical houses from surrounding villages and are set within a network of irrigation canals in a coconut grove. Each air-conditioned room is furnished in jackwood with intricate window carvings and terracotta tile floors. Bathrooms are part-open to a private open-air courtyard, complete with banana or coconut tree.
The hotel's swimming pool with jacuzzi is beautifully positioned overlooking the lake. Other facilities and activities offered include an excellent Ayurvedic Centre, a multicuisine restaurant, seafood restaurant, sunset cruises, kayaking, village walks, farm visits and an excursion to the nearby bird sanctuary. In the evenings, cultural performances such as Kathakali are staged.

To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
