A klotok is a traditional wooden Indonesian riverboat, used for transporting goods along narrow waterways. This particular vessel has been refitted with sleeping quarters, a galley, and basic comforts including air conditioning and a Western-style toilet. The six-person crew includes a chef who serves all your meals on board.

Staying on board for a few days provides an ideal vantage point from which to experience the tropical rainforest and wildlife of Tanjung Putting National Park. Journeying slowly along the park’s backwaters, you’ll be able to observe wildlife from the deck, including proboscis monkeys and crocodiles.

The Deluxe Klotok Riverboat takes you deep into the national park to Camp Leakey Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. You’ll pass feeding stations where you’re likely to catch close-up sightings of orangutans.

Providing a peaceful ride by day, at night the klotok becomes a floating hotel, and will be moored in a quiet spot away from busier riverside settlements.

Cabins

There’s one private cabin at the stern of the boat with limited air conditioning and a double bed with mosquito net. Alternatively, you can sleep out on deck, under the cover of a wooden roof and a mosquito net, but with the ends and sides open to the elements.
