Q&A with Prin

What’s your most vivid travel moment?
One vivid moment I’ll never forget was stepping into a hidden teahouse in Kyoto’s Gion district at dusk. The air was heavy with the scent of tatami and incense as a softly spoken geiko performed a graceful dance by candlelight. Outside, rain tapped gently on the paper screens. Time seemed to slow as I sipped matcha, fully immersed in a centuries-old tradition. In that quiet, fleeting moment, I felt the soul of Japan — elegant, elusive, and deeply moving. It’s these rare, intimate encounters that make travel in Japan so endlessly captivating.

Where would you love to travel next?
I’d love to visit the Maldives next because I also love beach destinations. I've always been drawn to stunning coastlines, clear blue waters, and tropical islands. The Maldives also feels like the perfect next destination for me after exploring the busy cities of Japan.

Which book, film or artwork captures Japan the most?
Watching Memoirs of a Geisha on Netflix sparked my interest in Japan. The film’s stunning visuals, traditional settings, and portrayal of geisha culture drew me in and made me curious to learn more about Japanese history, customs, and way of life. It opened the door to a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of Japanese culture.
