Street food walking tour of old Bangkok

Street food walking tour of old Bangkok, Thailand

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven through the old part of the city to the Bangkok City Hall, the starting point of your street food walking tour. The first visit is Wat Suthat, one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in Bangkok, followed by a quick photo stop at the Giang Swing, located in front of the temple.

From here your guide will walk you through the narrow streets to experience many local sights with various food tastings along the way. Try ‘kafae boran’, a classic Thai coffee, at a small traditional coffee shop before sampling the popular Thai dessert, 'Khanom Thua Paep' (mung bean rice crepe). In the same area you can visit another local stall to try 'Gui Chaii', a type of dumpling that is stuffed with various vegetables like bean sprouts and spinach. Continue your walk to visit Chao Phor Suea, a Chinese shrine, and on through the alleyways of Phraeng Phuthon, one of the best preserved heritage areas of Bangkok. Here, you can try some homemade coconut ice cream made by a family that has been using the same recipe passed down over a number of generations.

Heading back to the Giant Swing where the tour begins, your guide will take you through a small market in a neighbourhood that sells a diverse collection of goods including fresh seafood, fruits and clothes, until you reach a large Buddha manufacturer on Nava Alley. Here you will find various Buddha images and statues and you will have chance to observe the production process in these local workshops. At the end of the walking tour you will be transferred back to your hotel.
