One of the larger resorts in Hopkins, the Lodge at Jaguar Reef comes with a good range of facilities, including two swimming pools facing the beach and a hot tub. The restaurant serves both local and international cuisine and you can sip a fresh juice from the poolside 'swim-up bar'. The property's Butterflies Spa also offers a variety of relaxing treatments. Accommodation is divided between villas and cabanas which all feature air-conditioning, ceiling fans, refrigerator, minibar, coffee-makers, television and complimentary Wi-Fi.

You also have complimentary use of kayaks and paddleboards, and bicycles are available for rent, allowing you to explore the local area. Activities such as snorkeling, diving, fishing and biking can also be arranged on-site.

OUR OPINION:

Set in a peaceful beachfront location, we love the relaxed Belizean charm of the hotel and we feel that it's a great base for exploring the surrounding reefs.

Rooms

All 24 villas and suites come with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, mini refrigerator, coffee makers, iPod docks, a television and private balcony. All rooms are furnished with hand-carved wooden furniture and local artwork.

Location

The Lodge at Jaguar Reef sits toward the end of a long beachfront, a short walk from the Garifuna fishing village of Hopkins.

Food and drink

The property’s beachfront restaurant ‘The Paddle House by Chef Rahim’ serves both local and international specialities where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant also hosts weekly dining events featuring serving stations including a taco bar, local Mayan specialities and omelets made-to-order with an interesting mix of cocktails at the bar area.

Facilities and activities

Kayaks, paddleboards and bicycles are available for rent, allowing you to explore the local area. Activities such as snorkeling, diving, fishing and sailing can be arranged. The hotel also has its own on-site PADI dive center and the property's Butterflies Spa offers a variety of relaxing treatments.
