Set in the heart of Lunenburg, the Addington Arms B&B offers spacious rooms, just minutes from the waterfront, restaurants, cafes and art shops.
Mariner King Historic Inn
The Mariner King Inn adds to the bright paint pallet many Lunenburg properties have adopted with an easy-to-spot purple and yellow exterior. Built during the coronation year of King William in 1830, the house has been restored to its period glory with a parlor and rooms individually decorated with classic wooden furniture and polished wooden floors. Rooms in a modern annex offer a contemporary-style stay with a more nautical theme and overlook the waterside.
The hotel is just three blocks walk from Lunenburg Harbour and convenient for the seaside town’s cafes and restaurants.

The main period building has five original, Victorian-era rooms and suites with period furniture and antiques. Two more modern (and just as brightly painted) annexes have a further selection of suites and rooms with nautical décor. As the hotel was originally a series of private homes, you’ll find each room unique — individual features include fireplaces and roll-top baths. Each room is en suite with luxurious linens, in-room tea and coffee, mini far and TV.
The Mariner King Inn is a 5-minute walk to Lunenburg Harbor, the main focal point of Lunenburg. Along the bustling waterfront is the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and a number of well-reputed shops, cafes and restaurants. Some areas of Lunenburg can be quite hilly but most attractions are a short walk away, including the Knaut Rhuland House Museum and the Ironworks Distillery.
Food and drink
A continental breakfast is served in the bright Victorian sunroom, including a selection of locally-sourced breads, cheeses and fruit. The Victorian parlor is open during the day for guests to relax with a cup of tea and a game of chess. There is no restaurant for evening meals, but the staff can recommend a selection of restaurants within walking distance.
The two annex building have a number of rooms to suit families. Some come with a roll-out sofa bed or for larger families, an interconnecting room.
The Cranberry lodge has been fitted with an elevator and offers one accessible room. The Historic Inn and Apple Lodge has a steps entrance and only stairs available to access other floors.
These three bright buildings pop out from the landscape, with traditional seaside charm. We love the nautical theme in the newly refurbished buildings and the historic main building filled with antiques.
