The Inn at Bay Fortune
An organic farm, contemporary country inn and destination restaurant rolled into one, The Inn at Bay Fortune is a highly-regarded property run by a celebrity chef and his wife. The inn's distinctive architecture is reflective of its Maritime setting with weathered shingles, two towers, and a salt-box-style main house facing the water.
The inn was built as a summer home for Broadway playwright Elmer Harris in 1913 , a time when the area was a popular retreat for artists and actors from New York. It now offers 17 individually-appointed rooms and suites decorated in a sleek, contemporary style, many with balconies, fireplaces and whirlpools.
The FireWorks Restaurant is run by owner Michael Smith, a popular TV chef, and has a scenic setting overlooking the water. A custom-built wood-fired oven, rotisserie and grill is a central feature and the seasonal menu featuring local ingredients changes daily. All vegetables come from the inn's organic farm, meats from the smokehouse on site, and lobster from local fisheries.
Fragrant flower gardens, herb gardens, walking trails and fire pits litter the generous grounds and guests are invited to join one of the chefs for 'Oyster Hour' each day to tour the kitchens, smokehouse, farm and gardens.
