Built in 1860, the hotel is set in a handsome Parisian-style townhouse which once played host to the city’s visiting silk merchants. Inside, this heritage is reflected in the decor which combines contemporary style with elements of Lyon’s silk-industry heritage with bobbins of thread, reels of ribbon and quirky curios artfully worked into the design.
Hotel Silky’s 46 spacious rooms are simply but stylishly decorated with large windows bathing the rooms in light, high ceilings, vintage mirrors and a fresh palette of blues and greens. A continental breakfast is served in the small dining area in the basement of the hotel. Although there is no restaurant, there is a basic room service menu and a good choice of cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets.
The hotel is located on Place Francisque Régaud in Lyon’s Presqu’île district within walking distance of shops and the historic old town as well as many of the city sights.
Service is relaxed but efficient giving the hotel a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which is boosted further by the complimentary evening aperitifs and traditional Lyonnais nibbles served in the lounge or on the terrace.
There is a simplicity in the way the 46 rooms are decorated at Hotel Silky that, when accented by the big windows and high ceilings, makes them feel large and airy. Primarily decorated in duck-egg blues and moss greens with white accents, the rooms are sleek and modern with a chic, uncluttered style. Each room has air conditioning and free Wi-Fi as well as modern white-and-blue-tiled bathrooms.
Located in the heart of fashionable Presqu’île, Hotel Silky’s central location is just a ten-minute walk from Lyon’s old town. The hotel is also within walking distance of many of the city’s sights and offers a range of cafes, boutiques and restaurants on the doorstep.
Food and Drink
While there is no restaurant at the hotel, a continental breakfast that includes freshly-squeezed juice, American pancakes and eggs, is served daily in the small dining area in the basement. The streets surrounding the hotel offer a choice of restaurants and bars and the friendly staff are happy to assist with recommendations.
Family rooms sleeping up to four guests are available and children under three stay free of charge.

We find Hotel Silky’s location and charm to be a great fit for couples and families looking to get out and explore the city on foot and come back at night to a comfortable place to relax.
