Aman Venice

Aman Venice

Built in the 16th century, the Aman Venice is located directly on the Grand Canal, just steps away from the Rialto Bridge and less than a ten-minute walk to St Mark’s Square. The hotel is set within the grand Palazzo Papadopoli, one of the first Renaissance palaces in Venice to have an elevator as well as one of the first homes to feature electric-powered chandeliers and a phone system, and it’s no surprise that the property continues to remain at the forefront as one of Venice’s premiere hotels.

The canal-front Baroque building features soaring ceilings ornamented with original frescoes that have been carefully restored to their former glory. The lavishness of the public areas continues through to the 24 guestrooms, which contain period furnishings alongside contemporary conveniences.

The hotel’s restaurant, Arva, offers an elegant menu that features seasonally inspired Venetian dishes crafted from local ingredients. During the summer, alfresco dining is also available in the hotel’s garden, which overlooks the city’s waterway.

The chic, adults-only spa provides a full range of services, from manicures to body scrubs, and the small well-equipped gym boasts panoramic views of the city. The hotel also offers a hidden jetty entrance, roof terrace and a well-stocked library.

Rooms

All 24 rooms and suites offer views of the Grand Canal or the hotel’s private gardens. While the rooms vary in size and configuration, they retain their original characteristics. Many feature restored frescoes, silk wall coverings, oak parquet floors and sparkling chandeliers. These period pieces, reminiscent of the palazzo’s romantic heritage, are complemented by contemporary furnishings.

Location

Located directly on the Grand Canal in the heart of the city, the Aman Venice is just moments away from Rialto Bridge and less than a ten-minute walk from St Mark’s Square.

Food and drink

The hotel's restaurant, Arva, offers an exquisite menu that features seasonally inspired Venetian dishes. Using fresh, artisanal ingredients from the Italian countryside, the chefs prepare bold, authentic dishes that are served family style. During the summer, alfresco dining is available in the hotel’s canal-side garden. The seasonally inspired dishes are paired with wine from the hotel’s well-stocked cellar, which contains over 500 bottles of prized wines from around the world.

Room service is available 24 hours a day. The extensive room service menu offers everything from fresh smoothies to cheese platters to gourmet dishes.

In addition to several dining options, the Aman Venice has a plethora of places to unwind with a drink. Enjoy your wine while basking in the sunshine on the hotel’s terrace or sip a cocktail in the warm and inviting bar, which features an ornate fireplace and canal views.

Families

The hotel caters to families with young children by offering babysitting services, a children’s menu and high chairs. Family-friendly movies and activity books are also on hand.

Facilities and activities

From their private garden to the boutique shop and library, there are a host of activities at the Aman Venice. You can unwind in the chic spa, which offers a range of services including manicures, body scrubs, massages and facials. The gym is small but well equipped and offers panoramic views of the city.

Accessibility

The public areas are wheelchair friendly and all floors are accessible via an elevator. Two guestrooms have also been adapted to accommodate guests with limited mobility.

Our opinion

While Venice is home to a number of magnificent hotels, the grandeur of the Aman Venice makes it a particularly indulgent option.
