Capri Hotel and Spa

Capri Palace Hotel and Spa

Capri, Italy

The Capri Palace Hotel and Spa is built on several levels and exudes elegance throughout. Upon entering the hotel, you pass small windows that peak through to the large, mosaicked, outdoor swimming pool. Walk through to the bright reception area where the white ceilings, archways and sofas are in stark contrast to the gold-painted chandeliers, antique wooden furniture and modern art.

The views from the restaurant and swimming pool are superb and stretch down through the palm trees and exotic flowers to the sea, and over to the islands of Ischia and Procida beyond.

OUR OPINION:

It’s easy to understand why the Capri Palace Hotel and Spa is considered one of the leading hotels in Ana Capri. Although it’s further away from the action of Capri town, it’s still easy to reach by taxi or bus, making this a great escape from the crowds as well as a good base for exploring the island.

Rooms

Rooms are airy and light, with crisp, white walls, flowing curtains and cashmere linens covering the large four-poster beds. As art is a prevailing theme here, you’ll find some wonderful tribute pieces to iconic painters such as Andy Warhol, Miró and Kandinsky as well as some contemporary Italian artists. The rooms and corridors are hung with black and white photographs of the glamorous actresses of the 50s and 60s, such as Sophia Loren and Audrey Hepburn. The bathrooms are tiled in traditional Capri blues and whites with wooden sliding doors. Views are either of the garden or the sea.

Location

Ana Capri sits high on the mountainous side of Capri and offers sweeping views across the water. The hotel is steps away from the main square with its restaurants and cafés. Also close by is the Monte Solaro chair lift which brings you to the best viewing point on the island in 13 minutes. Capri town is a short drive or bus journey away.

Food and drink

You’re spoilt for choice at Capri Palace. The poolside Bistrot Ragù is great for a light lunch or evening cocktail. For a more refined experience, L’Olivo is the only restaurant on the island to have two Michelin stars. The buffet breakfast is served here as well as gourmet lunches and dinners. Alternatively, take the free shuttle down to the Michelin starred Beach Club Il Riccio and enjoy lunch or a drink above the water of the Blue Grotto.

Facilities and activities

The large, mosaicked swimming pool is heated and surrounded by wooden decking and sunloungers, where snacks and both soft and simple alcoholic drinks are free for hotel guests. You can also pay a visit to the Capri spa, which expertly focuses on well-being and nutrition.
