Built in 1765 as a family home, the Kingsmills Hotel has developed over the years into a large, thriving hotel on the outskirts of Inverness. Its 147 rooms are furnished to a high standard, with the contemporary decor incorporating purples, grays and tartans throughout to reflect Scottish heritage and the landscape. Within the substantial garden and grounds are the hotel’s garden rooms as well as a large spa and leisure club. The hotel’s two restaurants serve excellent Scottish cuisine and the whisky bar boasts an impressive array of whiskies, as well as serving a casual all-day menu.
Each of the rooms is decorated to a scheme of gray, purple and tartan and has contemporary furnishings. All have a flat screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi and tea and coffee-making facilities. In the main building, the classic rooms are the smallest but still spacious, and the luxury rooms have more space and extra facilities such as an iPod docking station. The Kingsclub rooms are located in the Kingsclub building, and have complimentary access to the spa and leisure facilities as well as air-conditioning and an iPod docking station. The garden rooms are located in the grounds, and have floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which overlook their private garden patio, and air-conditioning.
The Kingsmills Hotel is located just to the east of the city of Inverness, adjacent to Inverness Golf Club. It takes around 20 minutes on foot to reach the main shopping street in the city, and just ten to fifteen minutes by car to Culloden Battlefield.
The hotel has two restaurants, which both feature excellent fine-dining menus. The Conservatory Restaurant serves an à la carte evening menu and a set-price two or three-course lunch menu. The Inglis Restaurant serves a fixed-price menu in the evenings. The Whisky Bar, in addition to its extensive selection of whiskies, wines and spirits, features a more casual all-day dining menu. The hotel also offers afternoon tea every day of the week.
The Kingsmills Leisure Club has a swimming pool, gym and hair salon; guests staying in the Kingsclub rooms have complimentary access to these facilities. The Kingsmills Hotel also has a spa in the main building, which offers treatments, therapies and massages as well as a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Access to these facilities is complimentary for all guests.
We love the Kingsmills Hotel for its excellent facilities and great location, just a 20-minute walk into Inverness, yet ideal for exploring nearby Culloden or the Cairngorms.
