Architecturally exquisite, the hotel is part of the Sixteenth Street Historic District and is widely regarded as one of the finest hotels in Washington DC. Formerly called The Carlton, it has a history of presidential and celebrity guests.

Ideally located for exploring the city on foot, the hotel also offers guests a variety of things to do, from taking afternoon tea in the grand lobby to taking a cooking class with a top chef.

OUR OPINION:

The St. Regis is a sophisticated property, right in the heart of the capital city. When you’ve finished sightseeing, this property promises a relaxing end to each day with a cocktail in the prestigious lobby. Keep an eye out for other important guests that might also be enjoying the champagne sabering ceremony, every evening at 6pm.

Rooms

The hotel offers nine different room types ranging from Superior up to Presidential Suite. All rooms exude refined luxury, with the main difference being floor space and the addition of a butler service for the top class rooms. All rooms have a private bathroom, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, quality linens, a writing desk, seating and a Bose sound system.

Location

The St. Regis is only two blocks away from the White House, and within easy walking distance of the city’s main attractions such as the national monuments, the Smithsonian Museums and Capitol Hill, not to mention various contemporary cultural institutes, eateries and prime shopping outlets.

Food and drink

The Decanter restaurant is the main dining option at the St. Regis, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a ‘haute American cuisine style’. The menu is European-inspired but also features classic American steakhouse options. The St. Regis Bar also serves snacks and light bites. Don’t miss the St. Regis Afternoon Tea Ritual which is served daily between 2pm and 5pm in the elegant lobby, underneath the gold, lacquered ceiling.

Families

Families are welcome at the St. Regis, and the Grand Lux rooms contain sofa beds. The hotel concierge also has a children’s activity program.
