Itinerary idea in detail

With international flights from a choice of airports including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Anchorage. Once you arrive in Anchorage, make your own way to your downtown hotel. You can spend the rest of today relaxing after your long flight.

  • Enjoy a day exploring at your own leisure. There are plenty of ways to spend your time in Anchorage; you may wish to visit the city’s history museum and heritage centre to learn about Alaska’s indigenous people, or perhaps head to Westchester Lagoon to go ice skating, warming up by the fire barrels, or try out fat-biking on one of the backcountry trails just outside of the city.

  • Today you’ll embark on a scenic train journey from Anchorage to Fairbanks, on the Alaska Railroad. Travelling through the quiet backcountry, spend your time on board admiring the views, or perhaps relax with a book. Upon arrival in Fairbanks, you’ll make your own way to your hotel, getting a good night’s sleep for your active day tomorrow.

  • This morning, after a short transfer from Fairbanks, you’ll arrive at your northern lights lodge in the Alaskan wilderness. You can spend the afternoon enjoying one of the winter activities on offer at the lodge, which include dog-sledding, snowshoeing, photography classes and snowmobiling tours, each venturing through pristine boreal forests that surround the properties. After dinner, you can relax in your fibreglass dome cabin, keeping an eye out for the northern lights, high in sky above your bed.

  • Today you can enjoy yet more exciting winter activities from your lodge, immersing yourself in the snowy Alaskan backcountry and relaxing in your domed cabin. After dinner tonight, keep watch for the northern lights, putting your skills from the lodge’s photography class to the test if they appear.

  • Today you’ll transfer back to Fairbanks and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is then yours to spend at leisure. You can visit one of the city’s numerous museums, visit the 'Running Reindeer Ranch', or go for a scenic winter walk to one of the favourite local trails, which include the Chena Riverwalk and Creamers Field Nature Hike.

  • Today you’ll make your own way to the airport in Fairbanks for your onward flight home. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
