The resort consists of 30 individual cottage suites, which are either on the beachfront or nestled into the hillside with panoramic views of the bay. The hillside suites are the most private and feature a wraparound open-air deck that has a private plunge pool, lounge area, day bed and dining area. Below, the beachfront and garden suites have a veranda with a daybed and dining area.
All enjoy sweeping views of the bay, the luscious mangroves and the islands of Monserrat and Saint Kitts and Nevis on the skyline. Rooms feature rich wooden floors built from tropical hardwoods from Guyana and are furnished in a contemporary Caribbean style. Each air conditioned suite has a large bed with crisp white Italian linen and a spacious bathroom. All suites have minibars which are stocked with a choice of sodas, beers, spirits, and bottled water which are replenished daily.
Situated on the west coast of the island, the property is surrounded by 140 acres of lush tropical land which makes you feel as though you are on a private island. The airport is a 40-minute drive away and the capital St John’s is just a 25-minute drive away.
The hotel restaurant, located in front of the long sweeping beach which is set over three floors and offers views of the beach, serves a range of dishes, from classic Caribbean cuisine to modern European food and Asian delights. All tables have a sea view, giving every evening meal a romantic touch. The poolside bar serves soft drinks, local beverages and cocktails day and night. Tiered levels give each table a spectacular view of the bay and the adjoining bar overlooks the infinity edged swimming pool.
The hotel welcomes children aged 14 and up, if sharing with two adults.
An array of water sports are available to try onsite such as snorkeling, kayaking and windsurfing to Hobie Cat and sunfish sailing. Yoga, pilates and meditation sessions are also on offer. The spa has a focus on healing with Dorissima rituals that aim to balance the chakras, or if you prefer you can opt for a signature treatment, which combines local herbs from the garden in an invigorating scrub followed by a hot stone massage. Other facilities include a fitness facility, boutique, speedboat rides, garden tours and cookery demonstrations. There are also two golf courses on the island: The Jolly Harbour Golf Club located just 10 minutes from Hermitage Bay and the Cedar Valley Golf Course, located 5 km (3 miles) north of the capital St. John's.
