Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, The Bahamas

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar

Nassau, The Bahamas

Sat proudly in the palm-speckled landscape is the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. This state-of-the-art building is an opulent oasis bordered by Cable Beach, where white powdered sand is fringed by the rippling opal waters of Goodman Bay. An extensive resort unashamedly larger than life in its size and facilities, the property boasts seven different pool areas, which includes the Blue Hole with its 3 m (10 ft) cliff jump, an array of designer shops, the Caribbean’s largest casino and its very own Exploration Centre, featuring rescued and rehabilitated animals including sharks and sea turtles.

You're also spoilt for choice when it comes to dining options, which range from the gastropub the Swimming Pig to the poolside The Palms bar. The rooms have a contemporary style, with mod-cons, gleaming marbled bathrooms and either a full or Juliet balcony. Premier options include sea view rooms from the sixth-floor upwards.

We love this hotel’s bold and unbashful character, where bigger is better, and every need is catered for with aplomb.

Located just outside the capital city of Nassau and directly on Cable Beach, the self-contained Grand Hyatt is part of the three-hotel super resort of Baha Mar. A short 15-minute drive from the international airport and Nassau’s traditional Straw Market, it backs onto its own golf course and even hosts its own pier and manmade reef.

Even the grounds are dotted with pop-up food trucks or shacks to satisfy your appetite any time of day. Each of the restaurants embraces Bahamian ingredients and sustainable seafood. Facilities and activities

The Baha Mar resort has a long list of ways you could spend your time, from signature spa treatments in the Spa by ESPA, to dipping into one of its many swimming pools, a spot of tennis or a game of blackjack in the casino. Within the resort’s expansive grounds is a golf course, gym, and the wildlife-focused Exploration Center, as well as organised activities for children at the Explorer Club. On Cable Beach a variety of water sports are available, including paddle boarding, kayaking, sailboats, and snorkelling. After a busy day’s activities, the steam room and sauna are a welcome treat to rejuvenate before venturing out for the evening’s movie night in the outdoor pool area.
