Ongava Tented Camp

Located in a wild area of mopani woodlands and dolomite outcrops, Ongava Tented Camp is small, intimate and very comfortable and brings back the era of "Hemingway" camping. There are ten tastefully decorated tents in the classic Meru style each with an en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower as well as a roomy veranda.

In front of the camp there is a waterhole which attracts a wide variety of mammals and birds and is especially interesting at night when floodlights illuminate the area. The camp itself is powered by solar-powered inverter systems and there are no generators or pumps running whilst guests are in camp. Tasty home-cooked meals are served in the open-sided dining room and guests sit together at a large table.

Within Ongava Private Game Reserve, one can take part in nature walks, night drives and other activities, which aren't permitted in Etosha National Park. Rhino tracking on foot is one of the most popular activities at Ongava. Either on the reserve or in Etosha, guests also have the chance to see elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, white and black rhino and all the plains game of Namibia including springbok, oryx and hartebeest.

For the keen birder, hours can be spent next to waterholes spotting large varieties of birds from a pygmy falcon to some of the endemic species such as Hartlaub's francolin, the bare-cheeked babbler or Ruppell's parrot.
