Koh Mook is a small island in the Andaman Sea, just off Thailand’s Trang coast, and offers a noticeably slower and more intimate alternative to some of the country’s better-known destinations.
Life here remains closely tied to its fishing roots, with traditional villages and wooden stilt houses lining parts of the shoreline. This strong sense of local community, combined with a low level of development, gives the island a quietly authentic feel.
Surrounded by clear, marine-rich waters, Koh Mook is part of a protected coastal landscape, with limestone islets and reefs scattered across the horizon. Much of the experience here centers on the sea, whether that’s snorkeling, exploring by longtail boat, or visiting the island’s most well-known natural feature, the Emerald Cave. Reached by swimming through a short, dark passage, this hidden lagoon opens out beneath sheer cliffs covered in lush tropical greenery.
