Old Bank Hotel

Oxford, The UK

Located in the heart of the city and situated across three historic townhouses, one of which dates back to the 17th century, the Old Bank Hotel is a great choice for any visit to Oxford. Although characterful features such as wood paneling and large sash windows remain, the internal decor is contemporary and stylish with modern artwork from the owner’s personal collection adorning the walls.

One of Oxford’s premier restaurants, Quod, is a bustling brasserie on the ground floor. There’s also a Library Bar, open to guests only. Alternatively, the hotel’s central location means many of the city’s restaurants, bars and independent shops, as well as some of the oldest colleges, are just a couple of minutes’ walk away.

OUR OPINION:

Its contemporary style, central location and bustling atmosphere make this a great option for a visit to the city.

Rooms

Rooms are spread over the three historic buildings that make up the hotel, so all are unique in size and layout and offer views over the restaurant terrace or the city and St Mary’s Church. Rooms on the higher floors offer the best views over the college spires, with some offering a private terrace area. The en suite bathrooms feature a bath or shower, or in some cases both. Most rooms have contemporary decor but deluxe rooms and The Suite, located in the oldest part of the hotel, also have characterful features such as original exposed beams and fireplaces. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, fresh flowers, air conditioning and minibar.

Location

The hotel is located on Oxford’s High Street, which is home to a range of independent shops and unique bars and restaurants. Some of the city’s oldest colleges, including University and Merton, surround the hotel and the Bodleian Library and iconic Radcliffe Camera are just a two-minute walk away.

Food and drink

The hotel has one restaurant, Quod, which is one of the city’s best dining options. A bustling brasserie with a seasonal menu, this is a good option for both lunch and dinner. There‘s also a small Library Bar on the ground floor, which is open to hotel guests only.

Facilities and activities

The hotel offers a daily walking tour for guests at both the Old Bank Hotel and its sister property the Old Parsonage Hotel. Alternatively, explore the city as a traditional Oxford student and borrow one of the complimentary vintage bicycles.

Although there is no spa, in-room beauty and spa treatments can be arranged.

Accessibility

The hotel has a lift which offers access to the third floor level and there’s one accessible deluxe room on the ground floor which has views over the restaurant terrace.
