Hotel Bantu, Cartagena, Colombia

Located inside Cartagena's walled city, the Bantu combines traditional colonial architecture with modern details and elegant decor making it a great choice for a stay in the city.

The 27 rooms and suites are located over three floors and around central courtyards, all once part of two 18th Century houses that have now been joined together. Whilst retaining lots of original features the Bantu has been carefully designed and decorated to avoid some of the drawbacks of colonial architecture- rooms are light and fresh feeling even when facing internally and soundproof glass has been used in windows and doors to reduce internal noise, though this cannot be eliminated entirely.

Three shady courtyards provide plenty of communal areas to rest and relax, whilst the rooftop terrace is home to a small swimming pool, jacuzzis and spa area. There is a small restaurant here for breakfast, and it's just a few minutes to many of Cartagena's best restaurants.
