Location

Hotel Punta Islita is located in a secluded paradise, in Guanacaste, two hours south of Tamarindo. The hotel is set atop a hill and offers spectacular views of the sweeping Pacific Ocean below.

This is a quiet and peaceful location and you will probably spend most of your time in resort. There is a local restaurant 20 minutes' walk away.

Food and drink

The stylish 1492 Restaurant showcases the rich textures, vibrant colours, and intense flavours of Costa Rica's culinary traditions. Fresh local and regional ingredients are playfully combined with the flare and zest that reflects Costa Rica's ethnic diversity and Guanacaste's natural exuberance. 1492 Restaurant's fifty-foot thatched palm ceiling and open layout are inspired by the architectural style of ancient native cultures for a memorable dining experience.

A free-form pool framed by a secluded beach and landscaped tropical gardens are Borrancho Beach Club’s main attractions. Costa Rica’s ocean breeze and comforting sun set the perfect stage for swimming, reading, or even taking your first surfing lesson. Hotel Punta Islita’s Borrancho Restaurant tempts beach enthusiasts with seafood and ceviche specialties, light fare, and tropical cocktails.

Families

The villas at the resort are ideal for families but there are no specific facilities for kids.

Facilities and activities

There is so much to do at the hotel there is no chance of boredom. You can expect to enjoy zip lining, horse-riding, hiking adventures, kayaking, surfing lessons, bird watching, sport fishing, culture activities and cooking lessons. The resort also has tennis courts.

Casa Spa is a unique haven for holistic wellness. Beauty rituals, Costa Rican traditional healing arts, and local herbalist wisdom are artfully combined to gently relieve modern stress. Casa Spa's ample selection of treatments offers options for the whole family.

Environmental and social responsibility

One of the reasons we love Punta Islita is its commitment to responsible tourism. The surrounding tropical dry forest is home to hundreds of species of wildlife and the hotel ensures the most appropriate conservation strategies are applied in order to preserve and encourage the propagation of endemic flora and fauna.

They have also pioneered a responsible tourism program that encourages the preservation of local cultures and rational use of natural resources including a public library, a composting station and a recycling programme.

Under the hotel's sponsorship and guided by Marcela Valdeavellano and Loida Pretiz, the Punta Islita Contemporary Art Museum is the flagship project of the 'We Care Responsible Tourism Model' and features the works of established Costa Rican and international artists and members of the local community.

Local excursions

Diving and snorkelling trips can be arranged locally. A tour to the local village is a must.

This is a hotel with a spectacular location overlooking the Pacific; the environs are very natural and unspoilt.

It is remote with the exception of the little local village which the hotel supports. A wonderful property that delivers good quality and charm.
