Sitting on the corner of Old Church Park, Hotel St. George enjoys a central yet peaceful position in Helsinki, within walking distance of the city’s main street, Market Square, and Senate Square with its neoclassical buildings. The hotel’s style is fresh and contemporary, with nods to Finland’s modern art scene — you’ll find over 400 pieces decorating its light and airy spaces. On first stepping inside, you’re greeted by a white dragon sculpture by a contemporary artist Ai Weiwei, soaring above you. Elsewhere, the Winter Room lounge houses a large brass bird sculpture composed of over 100 individual pieces.
Flooded with natural light and decorated in soft pastels and natural tones, the rooms and suites are a welcoming retreat from the city streets. Each comes with Nordic comforts like fluffy blankets, plush cushions, and a sparkling water dispenser. When not relaxing in your room or exploring, you can unwind in the hotel’s spa, take a dip in the pool, or enjoy a rejuvenating treatment.
A continental buffet breakfast is served each morning, or you can join locals heading to the hotel’s popular St. George Bakery for freshly baked bread, pastries, and sandwiches. Then, come evening, you have the option of dining at the hotel’s Thai-inspired Boon Nam restaurant.

Staying here is like being inside a modern art museum. We love the relaxed atmosphere, individually styled rooms, and the location in a quieter but still central area of Helsinki.

Ranging from compact studio rooms to expansive suites, Hotel St. George’s 148 rooms provide a calming retreat after a day of exploring. All en suite, they feature muted, pastel tones, modern Finnish artwork, and stylish yet comfortable furniture to encourage rest and relaxation. We particularly like the Atelier rooms, which look out over the park (some also have balconies), while the five suites are individually named and decorated with details inspired by Finland’s history. Connecting rooms and extra beds are available for families, while twin rooms feature two double beds as standard.

Situated on Old Church Park, the hotel is conveniently placed in the heart of Helsinki, close to bars and restaurants but set away from the busiest streets. You’re within a 15-minute walk of key attractions like Helsinki Cathedral, the Old Market Hall, Oodi library, and the city’s museums, while the Design District is just five minutes away on foot.
