Luxury glass igloos provide a private sanctuary for viewing the northern lights in Lapland.
Pine forests stretch for miles around Utsuvaara, the peaceful fell that cradles Levi Igloos – Golden Crown’s collection of glass domes. One of the first igloo-inspired hotels in Finland, Levi Igloos invites you to soak up the Arctic landscape —snow, sky, and slopes — from the comfort and warmth of your bed. Between mid-September and early April, the northern lights often dance directly above the glass roofs, and you’ll be woken by a special alert if they do.
Levi Igloos sprawls out on a forested hillside, around a 20-minute drive from the town of Levi, offering a peaceful and eco-conscious retreat away from the Lapland crowds. There’s a fine-dining restaurant on site, designed to look like a Sámi conical tent (with panoramic glass instead of reindeer hide), as well as a sauna and alfresco hot tub. During winter, you can soak up the scenery by snowshoe, horseback, or sled, while autumn at Levi Igloos invites you to hike, cycle, and forage for wild food.
There’s something special about unwinding in your own igloo-style room, surrounded by snow, with the northern lights shimmering overhead. We suggest staying here from December to February, when this tucked-away winter wonderland is at its most beautiful.

Rooms
Domed glass roofs are the defining feature of all the igloos at Levi Igloos. They offer clear views of the Nordic scenery and northern lights, while low-level curtains and frosted walls in the kitchens and en suites provide privacy. Superior Igloos sit among several others, while Prime Superiors have valley or forest views, either on the front or second row of igloos. Suites are the largest option, with a separate lounge area, a private terrace and hot tub, and unobstructed views of the valley. For even more exclusivity, you can stay in the Northern Lights House, a villa with two bedrooms and panoramic glass windows, as well as a private terrace, hot tub, and sauna.
Location
You can reach the town of Levi, as well as Kittilä airport, by car in under 20 minutes. So, while Levi Igloos is fairly remote, it doesn’t take long to get there. There aren’t any nearby restaurants or shops beyond the resort, but its secluded and elevated position means less light pollution and better views of the northern lights.
