-
This morning, your local guide will collect you from your hotel for a private walking tour of the city. This orientation tour will uncover the city’s history, with a focus on some of the more significant World War II sites. You'll then have the afternoon to explore the city at your leisure, perhaps wandering through its historic core or outdoor food market, or visiting the many museums and manicured gardens.
-
Today you have a full day exploring two of Bavaria’s most famous castles. You’ll take a journey toward the Austrian border, where Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles dominate the landscape. Your guide will provide expert insights into their past as you explore their rich history and impact on the region.
-
This morning, you'll be collected by your private driver and travel to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where, after settling in, you’ll have time to explore this picturesque Bavarian town. You'll stay here for two nights. Your two-night package with tickets to the Passion Play includes accommodation in either a 5-star or 4-star hotel depending on the category of tickets.
-
Today you’ll travel to Oberammergau to watch the 43rd edition of the Passion Play, returning to your hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen later this evening. During the Thirty Years' War, plague swept across many parts of Europe, including Oberammergau. In 1633, the villagers made a vow to perform the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ every tenth year if they could be spared any more death. And so, in 1634, the first play took place, and the promise has been kept ever since.
-
This morning, you’ll travel across the border into Austria and to your hotel in the city of Innsbruck. After arriving, your private guide will collect you from your hotel, and together you'll explore Innsbruck on foot. Enjoy seeing iconic sites such as the ‘Golden Roof’ and the old medieval walls, which now host shops and homes.
-
Today, you'll take a short trip into the hills above Innsbruck to explore Schloss Ambras, the famous castle that hosted Archduke Ferdinand II and his wife, Philippine Welser. Schloss Ambras boasts a large collection of arms and armour, antiquities, art and sculptures and is considered to have been the world’s first museum.
-
Today you travel by train to Mozart’s hometown of Salzburg, where you'll spend your final two nights. This afternoon, a private guide will accompany you on a walking tour of Salzburg, regaling you with the history of the city and pointing out some popular landmarks, such as Salzburg Cathedral and the medieval Hohensalzburg Fortress.
-
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll have the opportunity to experience a Sound of Music Tour, visiting the film locations from the musical's most famous scenes both in and outside the city of Salzburg. After lunch, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore Salzburg at your leisure.
-
Say Auf Wiedersehen to Germany and Austria. Today you'll be brought to the Munich Airport for your journey home. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
