Villa Maya is a mid-sized hotel with 55 rooms and is decorated with local wood and Guatemalan textiles so it has a pleasant and authentic feel.
It offers guests a beautiful location on the shores of a lake in a rainforest setting. The hotel has extensive grounds, inside and outside dining, a small pool, and bar. It's only a 15-minute drive from the airport and is about an hour's drive from Tikal and Yaxha.
Like most accommodations in El Petén it's not a luxury property, but it is tastefully decorated and has some character.
