Responsible Choice

We've hand-selected a range of tours and stays across the world that go above and beyond to be a force for good by supporting local businesses, educating staff, challenging local norms, or promoting conservation and biodiversity efforts. Your Responsible Choice helps increase the positive impact of your trip.

Set in over 40,468 square metres of rough grass, overlooking a rock escarpment, Aman-i-Khas is situated close to the entrance to Ranthambhore National Park. This exclusive camp features ten luxury air-conditioned tented suites, with all modern amenities, allowing you to live in comfort and style during your stay at Ranthambhore. Each tent interior is divided into five different areas by cream canvas curtains, providing a separate bedroom, living area, two bathing areas and toilet, and is furnished in teak, leather, and heavy linen.

Elsewhere, the dining area, library and even a spa, are situated in their own tents, and a traditional Bawadi (step well) makes a beautiful and secluded swimming pool. Comprised of a series of squared, concentric steps, converging deeper in to the 12-square-metre step well, the Bawadi is lined with natural sandstone, blending in with the topography and the camp's design. On a warm sunny day, guests can cool off in the Bawadi, and then relax on the sandstone terrace.

The camp is centred around the fireplace; this outdoor spot with nightly log fires, serves as an informal lounge and dining area. It is the ideal spot for a pre-dinner drink around the campfire, with tales of the day's sightings.

This resort supports the local community by connecting with local artisans and providing employment opportunities. The camp’s team of eighty employees, only 10% come from outside the immediate Rajasthan region thus promoting local employment. To become more greener and impact driven, their food waste and meat leftovers are fed to their on-site tilapia and catfish. They have recently begun a ghee initiative, sourcing this essential ingredient directly from farms run by local women. Keeping goats and rabbits on property has helped to introduce healthy micro bacteria to the resort’s soil. To avoid the use of pesticides on their farms, they also make use of hydroponics. A solar power plant has been installed here, and their safari vehicles are consistently upgraded to the highest anti-pollution standards.

As with all Aman properties, the service is impeccable, and you will enjoy some wonderful cuisine during your stay.
