On the Sandy Shore of Meirda Beach, flanked by palm groves and volcanic views, the Candi Beach Resort and Spa is a wonderful place to rest up and relax while exploring the rural rice fields and crumbling stone temples of Easter Bali.

From the resort, you can wander along the small golden beach, snorkel and dive using the on-site dive centre, or adventure along the bike and walking trails that lead into the countryside of Candidasa.

The property has a variety of room types, including small Balinese bungalows that dot the lush gardens, luxury ocean suites, which offer unparalleled views of the Lombok Strait, and charming pool villas that are tucked away at the back of the property and have their own gardens.

The resort has several different room categories, all with air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. The deluxe garden and ocean bungalows have a traditional Balinese design, while junior suites are contemporary in style and have views over the garden or the ocean from their private balcony or terrace. The deluxe ocean rooms are located in a two-floor building and each have a balcony where you can enjoy views over the gardens and a partial view of the sea.

Balancing traditional Balinese and modern styles, the spacious luxury ocean view suites have floor-to-ceiling windows and have the additional luxury of an outdoor Jacuzzi tub, as well as additional amenities such as a coffee machine and satellite TV. The luxury pool villas, set beside a coconut grove, have a small private garden and outdoor pool. Guests staying in the pool villas also have exclusive use of the Biru restaurant for breakfast.

Candidass, whose name comes from ‘Candi’ to mean temple, is a far more subdued affair than Bali's southern beach region. The area lies in the shadow of Mount Agung and is home to Besahkih, the Mother Temple, as well as Taman Ujung Water Palace and Tirta Gangga, a beautiful Balinese water garden. You're also within easy reach of the rural fields of Sidemen, and close to the launch point for reaching the Gili Islands and Lombok.

Food and Drink

The resort has two restaurants and a pool bar. The Ocean Terrace Restaurant serves European food in the evenings, whilst the Biru Restaurant serves Indonesian food. If you'd prefer to dine out in Candidasa, a number of the restaurants will offer courtesy transport to and from the hotel. The hotel also runs two daily complimentary shuttles to and from downtown Candidasa during the day.

Facilities and Activities

During your stay at the resort, you can make use of the infinity pool, and there's a main pool that has a Jacuzzi and children's pool. The on-site dive shop can arrange diving and snorkeling activities, and the resort offers bicycles for rent to explore the area.

Our opinion

This resort is a great option for guests staying in the Candidasa area, boasting excellent facilities and one of the best oceanfront locations in the area. The luxury suites and pool villas offer great value and are worth considering as an upgrade.
