Kura Kura Resort

Kura Kura Resort (meaning 'turtle' in Bahasa Indonesia) is the only island property we use off the coast of central Java and indeed the only one on Pulau Menyawakan. It has become a favoured spot for our clients looking to dive, snorkel or simply relax after exploring the sights of Java or jungles of Kalimantan.

The 21 spacious private pool villas (including two 'two bedroom villas') all have a large private pool (4 x 8 metres), along with sun beds and two gazebos. The open air living room is equipped with minibar and CD player with MP3 connection for you to enjoy the villa's intimate atmosphere. The air-conditioned bedroom is elegantly designed with touches of natural materials, mosquito netting draping the king-size bed and curtained floor-to-ceiling windows for an open pool view.

There are 15 cottages positioned close to the beach and these offer excellent views over the crystal clear lagoon. Although not as high standard as the pool villas, all the cottages were renovated in 2009 and offer excellent value if you are happy with smaller and more simple rooms or are planning on spending plenty of time by the pool or taking trips away to explore the archipelago. The deluxe cottages are individual units whereas the superiors are semi-detached.

The restaurant offers a wide choice of options, ranging from Mediterranean style fine cuisine to classic Indonesian dishes. Most days a boat from the resort will head out to intercept local fishermen on their way back home to buy some of the freshest local fish to cook. There is a well run dive shop on the island and several boats to cater for diving, snorkelling and island excursions. Snorkelling equipment can be hired for $5 per day. There is an internet station in reception which is complimentary.
