Empowering Balinese women

Upon arrival, you’ll meet Ibu Sari, the founder of the Women’s Centre. She embarked on a mission to support vulnerable women and children in Bali, driven by her own difficult journey through divorce and a 16-year separation from her daughter. During her professional career as a teacher in local schools, she discovered that many other women had faced similar hardships, so she decided to establish a Women’s Centre. Here, valuable job skills are imparted through educational initiatives, empowering women with skills in cooking, catering, and making or selling clothes and accessories.

After taking a tour of the non-profit and learning Ibu Sari’s story, you can participate in some traditional activities. You can select two from the following list:

  • Herbal tea making: Discover the art of blending local herbs and spices to create your own tea, which you can take home and enjoy later.
  • Batik making workshop: Try your hand at this traditional technique (max three people).
  • Canang sari crafting: Learn the cultural significance and the intricate steps of preparing Canang sari, the beautiful daily offerings found throughout Bali.
  • Sewing workshop: Stitch your own handmade creation under the guidance of skilled local artisans.
  • Yoga and meditation class: A short session to help you relax, recharge, and reconnect with your inner self (min five participants).
  • Balinese cooking class: Master the secrets of authentic Balinese cuisine as you prepare two traditional dishes (min two people).
