Belum Rainforest Resort, Belum Rainforest, Malaysia

Set in the midst of a tropical paradise, Pulau Banding, the Belum Rainforest Resort is everything nature lovers expect in a getaway destination: complete relaxation and serenity, stunning views and surroundings, adventure, and the chance to get close to nature. Despite being close to the main road, the resort is peaceful and relaxing as it is located in the middle of Temenggor Lake.

Belum Rainforest Resort provides a variety of room options including traditional themed Malay architecture and stylish modern rooms as well as a more basic entry option. All rooms are designed with contemporary, nature-inspired décor. The Cengal rooms are designed with modern minimalism which compliments the rainforest surrounding. Rooms are simple but have been finished well, and the lake view rooms come with a small terrace overlooking the lake. In contrast, the Kampong houses are designed in keeping with Malay architecture with a wooden interior. The houses have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms and a veranda overlooking the lake. All rooms at the resort have air conditioning, hot and cold water, IDD telephone, coffee and tea making facilities, safe deposit boxes. Additionally, Cengal  rooms have a bathtub (inside for lake view rooms, and outside on a private terrace for garden view rooms) and both Cengal and Kampong rooms have a television.

Simple buffet dinners are served at The Hornbill Restaurant. The Sidai restaurant near reception offers meals from 11am to 6pm and caters more for day trippers to the area. No alcohol is served in either restaurant, but there is also a small bar called Tor Tambra where you can buy alcohol. The resort is run with ecotourism principles in mind, and it follows a policy of reduce, reuse, recycle. It has its own herb garden where herbs are grown for use in the restaurant, and it runs a toy library for the orangasli villages.
