Tasman Glacier Sightseeing Flight
Tasman Glacier Sightseeing Flight, New Zealand
From the foothills of Mount Cook National Park you can take a spectacular scenic ski-plane flight which will take you up the length of the Tasman Glacier before landing on the newly fallen snow near the top. Your pilot will point out the impressive geographical features of a rarely-visited glacier that you simply would not see were you just to approach it on foot. Landing on the glacier itself you have time to take photos and absorb the incredible scenery. One of the biggest surprises in this all-white environment is the total distortion of scale - when you land next to what had seemed a small stone below, you will realise that it is a boulder many times the size of your plane.
