Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Auckland.

  • On-board your international outbound flight to Auckland.

  • Arrive in Auckland, also known as ‘The City of Sails.’ After passing through customs and immigration, you’ll be met by a private driver who will take you into Auckland, where you can spend the rest of the day exploring the city. We recommend spending time around Britomart, a walkway with designer boutiques, restaurants, cafes, and bars.

  • Today you'll make your way to the ferry to cruise across the Hauraki Gulf to Waiheke Island. This garden-like isle produces exceptional oysters, wines, olive oil, and honey, all of which you can sample before sitting down for a gourmet lunch. This afternoon, return to Auckland by helicopter, enjoying spectacular views of the Coromandel Peninsula and New Zealand’s dramatic volcanic landscapes along the way.

  • You can take a taxi or walk to collect your hire car this morning from the central depot and head south out of the busy city. You’ll drive toward the lush green fields of the Waikato region, where you’re likely to see more sheep than people, and on to the volcanic area of Rotorua. Spend the day exploring the region at your leisure before enjoying an authentic hāngī feast, a traditional meal slow-cooked underground using heated stones. The evening is complemented by a captivating Māori cultural performance, offering insight into the rich heritage and traditions of the local people.

  • You have the day to explore Rotorua or perhaps drive to Taupō for lunch. We recommend walking through the Redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest or relaxing at one of Rotorua's spas.

  • After breakfast, you'll head south to Wellington, about a 5-hour drive south. Along the way, we suggest stopping in Taupo to see Huka Falls and the turquoise-coloured Waikato River, and Tongariro National Park to see the volcanic peaks of Mount Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe. Upon arrival, you have time to explore the capital city, perhaps a tour of the national museum, Te Papa, and followed by dinner at one of the city's many Michelin-recognised restaurants.

  • Today, enjoy a guided tour focused on the capital city's highlights while diving into the food experiences in Wellington. The tour is designed to showcase the city's vibrant culinary and hospitality scene. Led by an experienced local foodie guide, enjoy the sustainability-focused food culture, hidden bars and takes on classic New Zealand dishes.

  • Spend the morning travelling between the North and South Islands of New Zealand on a ferry that travels through the Marlborough Sounds, where you can see dusky dolphins playing off the bow of the ferry, and into the small sailing town of Picton. Here, you’ll hear the water lapping the side of the boats, buoys clanging, and foghorns blasting as you wait to collect your hire car. Leave this quaint town behind as you drive into the fertile wine region of Marlborough. The foggy but warm climate of the Winelands produces an intense, strong, and acidic expression.

  • Today is about indulging in New Zealand's finest offerings on a luxury Marlborough experience, combining a private wine tour with a scenic cruise. Visit premium wineries for award-winning tastings and a platter lunch, then board a cruise to explore Queen Charlotte Sound/Tōtaranui while enjoying fresh New Zealand King Salmon, Greenshell Mussels, and a glass of local Sauvignon Blanc.

  • Travel south along the coast to Christchurch today, with the option to stop in the seaside town of Kaikōura, renowned for its whale-watching experiences. On arrival in Christchurch, check in to your hotel before enjoying dinner aboard the iconic Tramway Restaurant.

  • Enjoy exploring the "garden" city today with a walk through the Botanical Gardens or taking a gondola ride through the city's riverways. This evening, enjoy a guided progressive cultural food dinner that embraces the storytelling passed down from generations while pairing with local bites throughout the city.

  • Travel from Christchurch through the sweeping Canterbury Plains and into the heart of New Zealand’s Southern Alps on one of the country’s most scenic drives. As you journey toward Aoraki/Mount Cook, enjoy ever-changing landscapes of turquoise lakes, rugged mountain peaks, and expansive Alpine vistas before arriving at New Zealand’s highest mountain and renowned dark-sky region.

  • Experience the grandeur of the Southern Alps from above on a scenic helicopter flight over glaciers and rugged Alpine landscapes. Touch down at a secluded hut and enjoy a whisky tasting surrounded by some of New Zealand’s most dramatic scenery before your return flight through this pristine backcountry. As darkness falls beneath the towering peaks of Aoraki/Mount Cook, indulge in the unforgettable Billion-Star Dining Experience, where exceptional cuisine is paired with dazzling views of one of the world’s most pristine night skies.

  • Journey from Aoraki/Mount Cook to Wanaka through some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking alpine landscapes. Travel alongside the turquoise waters of Lake Pukaki, with opportunities to stop in the quaint township of Omarama and admire the sweeping mountain vistas of Lindis Pass. Upon arrival in the picturesque lakeside town of Wanaka, spend the evening enjoying dinner at Kika, a local favourite celebrated for its innovative sharing plates, fresh seasonal produce, and welcoming atmosphere.

  • Spend the day exploring Lake Wanaka's crystal-clear waters, lakeside walking trails, boutique shops, and vibrant cafes, or venture further afield to discover nearby vineyards, hiking tracks, and Alpine viewpoints. You may also wish to take a cruise around the lake for viewpoints and wildlife spotting.

  • Travel from Wanaka to Queenstown through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular Alpine scenery, crossing the dramatic Crown Range and taking in sweeping views of mountains, valleys, and lakes along the way. Upon arrival in Queenstown, settle into this vibrant lakeside resort town before enjoying a casual dinner at the legendary Fergburger, renowned for its gourmet burgers and a true Queenstown institution.

  • Today, enjoy a privately guided wine journey through the renowned Gibbston and Bannockburn wine regions of Central Otago. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, explore a selection of award-winning wineries chosen to suit your personal tastes and a leisurely winery lunch in Bannockburn. This evening, conclude your New Zealand adventure with a memorable farewell dinner at True South, a Michelin-recognised restaurant known for its innovative cuisine, exceptional local ingredients, and waterfront setting in Queenstown.

  • Today, bid farewell to the landscapes and culinary experiences of New Zealand as you depart Queenstown for your journey home.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
