RockFig Safari Lodge

Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa

Located in the northern section of the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, RockFig Safari Lodge in an intimate option with just six suites. Each room is comfortably furnished and features indoor and outdoor showers, a private veranda and a bath with a view out over the Timbavati bushveld. The indoor communal area has an open-plan kitchen and features furniture commissioned from local artisans.

Evening meals are taken outside, either communally on a long wooden table under cover or on private tables open to the sky, and breakfast is usually served in the bush. The spacious outdoor area also features a boma with a fireplace, a sheltered lounge area and a swimming pool with views of a waterhole. The lodge is ringed with a low fence to prevent large wildlife from entering the grounds, making it a good option for families.

The focus here is on tracking the wildlife, including game drives and bush walks. There’s a maximum of four guests to a safari vehicle, allowing you to form a close relationship to your guide and tracker. For larger groups who want to share, vehicles can seat up to six.

OUR OPINION:

We love RockFig for its excellent food, top-notch service and the staff’s passion for safari and the outdoors. Also, Timbavati feels more remote than some of nearby private reserves.
