Embodying Stockholm’s charms, the Lydmar Hotel is chic, luxe and intimate, with just 46 rooms that overflow with a playfully artistic style. Just a short walk from the Kungsträdgården and Skeppsholmen, it boasts a central location overlooking the waterfront and old town, making it an excellent base for exploring the city.

Rooms here feature a palette of gentle taupe, warm gold and dark wood, rendered in plush fabrics and rich mahogany furniture. The muted scheme provides a neutral, elegant background for the eclectic collection of modern art — you’ll find murals, paintings and sculptures in a variety of styles by local creators.

All three meals are served at the Dining Room, a relaxed brasserie with a hearty menu of local fare complemented by the relaxed decor. Popular with locals as well as visitors, it features overflowing bookshelves, overstuffed leather armchairs and minimalist tables.

During your stay, you’ll have access to Nordic Spa & Fitness, located next door at the Grand Hotel, for a small fee. The waterfront patio and upstairs bar offer live music, inventive cocktails and a chance to rub elbows with the city’s most fashionable residents.

OUR OPINION:

We like the Lydmar’s relaxed but indulgent atmosphere and playful style. Its central location and distinctive personality make this boutique hotel one of the best in Stockholm.

Rooms

Rooms here are generously sized and have a relaxed decor that combines Swedish design sensibilities with opulent comfort. Each of the 46 rooms is different in style and layout, but they all boast deep sofas, golden and dark-blue velvet accents, luxe linens and mahogany furniture. The owners collect original art to display in the rooms, including charcoal drawings, abstract paintings, sleek sculptures and playful photos. The largest rooms, which have waterfront views of Gamla Stan and the castle, can be interconnected for larger groups and families.

All the rooms have an en suite bathroom and modern amenities including air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and TVs.

Location

The Lydmar enjoys one of the city’s best locations, overlooking Gamla Stan and the waterfront. You’re just a short walk from Djurgården, most of the city’s museums and galleries as well as leafy Skeppsholmen, the Kungsträdgården and the quirky suburbs of Norrmalm and Östermalm.
