Buri Rasa Village

Buri Rasa Village

Koh Phangan, Thailand

This relaxed beachfront hotel has a really friendly atmosphere and offers great value.

Set on the island of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand, Buri Rasa Village has a great location close to Angthong National Marine Park. Not only does the hotel have a white-sand beach on the doorstep but also a small village with just enough local restaurants and shops to serve your needs.

There are only 65 rooms and the hotel is set out in a style reminiscent of a traditional village with winding paths leading between the buildings that house the rooms, with a ‘Village Square’ at the entrance to the hotel.

OUR OPINION:

It’s not often you find an unspoiled beach and yet still have a choice of local restaurants and shops on your doorstep. Buri Rasa Village Koh Phangan couples that with a simple, friendly ambience and great value.

Rooms

The 65 rooms are simple with a relatively minimalist decor while remaining light and modern. Inside the rooms are very similar and the main difference between the room types is their views and their location within the resort. All feature a balcony or patio, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, TV and DVD and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms have a shower rather than a bathtub.

Location

Buri Rasa Village has a great beachfront location on Thong Nai Pan Noi overlooking the soft white sands that shelve gently into the sea.

The hotel sits at the end of a bay on the northeast of the island of Koh Phangan. There are a handful of hotels on the same beach but the area retains much of the small island ambience for which Thailand is renowned, and Koh Phangan remains much less developed than other more well-known areas.

There's a small village on the doorstep with just one street that takes barely ten minutes to walk the length of. However, it's large enough to offer a selection of local restaurants, a few shops and a mini mart.

Food and drink

The Beach Club restaurant overlooks the beach offering a variety of Thai and Western dishes. There are also nightly seafood barbecues on the beach as well as evening entertainment.

At the entrance of the hotel in the ‘Village Square’ you'll find a bakery, bar, café and general store.

There are a number of other dining options a short walk away for those looking for a variety of cuisines or local dishes.

Families

The hotel welcomes guests of all ages. Although there are no specific children’s facilities, the gentle slope of the beach into the sea is good for families and there are some connecting rooms available.

Facilities and activities

This is a small hotel and it doesn’t offer the wide range of facilities you'll find in a larger property. Here, the focus is on relaxing and enjoying the location or exploring the island and surrounding waters.

The hotel does have a small pool as well as kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and a small gym.

Local excursions

The hotel offers a boat sightseeing tour around the island twice a week. It can also help arrange boat trips to Angthong Marine Park for snorkelling. Lush, largely unspoiled rainforest covers much of the island's interior.

Diving

Nearby Angthong Marine Park offers good diving opportunities for both novices and more experienced divers, and the best time to dive is January to April. Although there isn’t a dive school at the hotel, there are several in the surrounding villages and the hotel will be happy to help you make arrangements.
