This itinerary takes in the awesome temples around Cairo and the Nile, with time on Egypt's Mediterranean coast to provide an interesting contrast. In Cairo you can explore the varied sights of one of Africa's most fascinating cities, including the legendary Pyramids. A diversion to Alexandria offers some slightly more recent history, with Greek and Roman sites to discover. Day 1 Cairo

On arrival at Cairo International Airport you will be met by one of our representatives. From here, you will be transferred by private car to your hotel for your two night stay in the capital.

After a leisurely morning you will be driven to Alexandria to arrive before dinner time tonight.

Today you will have a full day tour of the major sites in Alexandria.

Your driver collects you for your journey back to Cairo, and the afternoon is at leisure.

Today you will be collected from your hotel for a full day guided tour of the Pyramids at Giza (and the Sphinx), Saqqara and Dahshur (recently opened to the public). Do let your guide know that you would like to stop for lunch as it is not included!

Today's excursion includes a guided tour of the Egyptian museum of antiquities with your private guide plus a visit to the ancient citadel on top of the hill overlooking Cairo (with a wonderful view of the city), the beautiful Mohammed Ali mosque, and the labyrinthine souqs of the Khan el Khalili bazaar.

Today you have a full day exploring the intricacies of Medieval Cairo and its historic monuments.

Day 9 Luxor

This morning your driver collects you from your hotel and transfers you to the airport for your short flight south to the Nile. Upon arrival in Luxor you will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will be collected and taken to the Luxor Museum for a guided tour of the exhibits, many from the temples and tombs of the Theban area.

This morning you will be transferred to your waiting cruise where you will enjoy an excursion to the magnificent temple of Karnak. After lunch you visit the West Bank to explore the colorful tombs in the Valleys of the Kings & Queens, as well as the modernist-looking temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.

You will sail to Qena early this morning where you will visit the fabulously preserved Temple complex of Denderah. You will enjoy lunch on board as you gently cruise to Luxor where you will visit the famous temple there. Dinner tonight will be followed by an amazing belly dancing, whirling dervish show!

Luxor

Visit Edfu temple this morning and then take part in a fabulous Egyptian cookery lesson. You will have a chance to visit the crocodile god Sobeks temple at Kom Ombo before your lavish 'Egyptian Night' dinner.

Day 13 Luxor

Luxor

You will enjoy a traditional sail boat ride this afternoon on a famous 'felucca'. You will see the Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk in the morning. This evening the crew of the Sun Boat will host a superb gala dinner for your last night on board.

Day 14 Aswan

Luxor , Aswan

Today you have the opportunity to visit the superb temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. You will have a short flight down Lake Nasser, where you are met and transferred to the archeological site with your guide, who will explain the history of the monuments to you before you enter the temples themselves. After flying back to Aswan, you have the afternoon at leisure to relax or explore Aswan's souks.

You will be collected from your hotel in time to check in for your flight home today.
