Just a short walk from the Ca' D’Oro vaporetto (water bus) stop on the Grand Canal, this hotel of the same name is an excellent base from which to explore Venice. It’s just a few steps from Campo Santi Apostoli, a typical Venetian square. The lobby and dining area are welcoming and quite modern in design and the hotel’s small roof terrace offers great views of the Venetian rooftops and winding canals below. The hotel is small, boutique and intimate, in an authentic area of Venice down a quiet side street with a private canal.
The rooms are a good size, and subtle in their décor yet not lacking in style and character. All rooms are fully fitted with air-conditioning and have free Wi-Fi and a TV. The bathrooms, although a little small, are perfectly good and stocked with toiletries. Rooms consist of single, Deluxe, Classic and Junior suites, with some offering views of the canal. The Junior suites have a Jacuzzi bath.
The Cannaregio District is the setting for this charming little hotel, and a fantastic area to explore on foot. It’s much quieter than the vicinity of St Mark’s Square, yet full of vibrancy, rustic bistros, pretty streets and boutiques that run alongside the smaller canals. The Ca' D’Oro vaporetto stop connects you with all the main places to visit. Walking, it takes around 40 minutes to get to the district of St Mark’s.
The modern and bright restaurant serves a buffet breakfast selection every morning. You can eat alfresco in the courtyard during the summer. Although the hotel doesn’t offer lunch or dinner, there is a wide selection of restaurants and bars nearby.
We particularly like the friendly, understated atmosphere at the Ca' D’Oro. While the rooms are modest, the location in the quieter Cannaregio district and the charming traditional style roof terrace make it a great option for those wanting a more authentic Venetian stay.
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favorite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
