Rooms
All the rooms at Hotel Villa Athena are elegantly furnished with crisp white linen, stylish decor and modern bathrooms. A converted 18th-century villa, the hotel’s various guest rooms all have a slightly different size and layout. A number of the ground floor rooms have their own terrace, complete with sunloungers, while a selection of the upper level rooms have their own balcony. Many of the rooms overlook the lush green gardens or surrounding countryside, but a choice few also boast views of the temples.
Location
No other hotel in Agrigento is as well situated as the Villa Athena. Right in the midst of the Valley of the Temples, overlooked by the Temples of Juno and Concordia, the Hotel Villa Athena is a great base for exploring Agrigento’s archeological heritage. The main temple complex can be reached in around five minutes by car, while the heart of Agrigento is around a 10-minute drive away.
Food and drink
Breakfast is served each morning in a bright, contemporary dining area. Beneath a section of glass in the floor you can see the remains of an ancient cistern. The real highlight though is the Terrazza degli Dei restaurant in front of the hotel. Surrounded by olive and almond trees, it has spectacular views of the temple complex and is open every day. Guests can enjoy a light lunch or evening à la carte menu.
Facilities and activities
The Hotel Villa Athena has a beautiful outdoor pool, surrounded by lush gardens of olive and almond trees. The gardens have a number of loungers, along with a terrace bar and restaurant area. There’s also a spa complex, built around an ancient Greek cistern.
