This chic, boutique hotel is located above the Salvatore Ferragamo store, also under the same ownership, and the whole property is expertly styled and based on the fashion of the 1950s and 1960s, with glamorous black and white photographs of that era lining the walls. As you enter the hotel, the staff welcome you into what they like to describe as your ‘home away from home’ and provide you with your own miniPad for your stay. Here, you’ll find lots of extra information about the hotel as well as restaurant recommendations and skype so that you can call the hotel if ever you get lost or need advice whilst you are out and about exploring the city.
Starlets from the 1950s and 1960s line the walls of the rooms and corridors at Portrait Roma. There is even a framed receipt that Marilyn Monroe signed when purchasing a pair of Ferragamo shoes on the staircase. The space is sophisticated with classic Italian furniture, reinvigorated with luxurious fabrics and a modern twist. Everything is polished and well-thought out; the suites have foldaway kitchenettes, complete with a mini bar and coffee machine, that retract into what looks like a stylish leather coated wardrobe. Some of the suites boast fantastic balconies or terraces, but these are in high demand so must be booked well in advance.
Located just a few minutes’ walk from the Spanish Steps, off Via Condotti, Portrait Roma could not be better situated to explore. All the main historical sites, such as the Pantheon or Trevi Fountain, are about a fifteen minute walk away, with the exception of the Colosseum which is approximately 30 minutes’ walk or a quick taxi journey.
Although Portrait Roma does not have its own restaurant for lunch or dinner, it does have a fantastic rooftop terrace which offers panoramic views of Rome and the Spanish Steps. You can choose to have your breakfast up here, where there is an a la carte or buffet option. The rooftop terrace is also ideal for an aperitivo in the evening.
If cycling is your preferred way to explore a new city, then there are two bikes available to all hotel guests. Guests are also loaned a miniPad, which is preloaded with all the information about the hotel as well as skype so that, if you are out and about and need directions or advice, you can call reception to ask.
An ultra-stylish boutique hotel in the heart of Rome, the Portrait Roma is ideal for those looking for an intimate and exclusive retreat. The staff here are some of the most dedicated we’ve seen and really go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need during your stay.
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favorite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
