Hotel Bernini Palace used to be the residence of a wealthy Florentine family in the 15th century and overlooks the grand Palazzo Vecchio.

Since the turn of the 18th century, it has been operating as a hotel — the first in the city, in fact, to have hot running water. When Florence was briefly the capital of Italy in the middle of the 19th century, this hotel even played an essential role hosting members of parliament during what was a pivotal time in Italian history, now remembered in the frescoes and artwork of the Parliament breakfast room.

OUR OPINION:

Hotel Bernini Palace offers one of the best locations within central Florence. We find the service here particularly friendly and the refined yet welcoming atmosphere a great addition to any stay.

Rooms

The corridors and rooms maintain their Tuscan heritage with paneled walls, Renaissance artwork and intricate Murano glass chandeliers. There's even a special ‘Tuscan floor’, which has a rustic, yet refined, decor that's reminiscent of Morocco, featuring wooden beams and large, old doors. The bathrooms are well equipped and a good size, featuring lovely marble flooring. The majority have both a bath and a separate shower. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, TVs and air-conditioning.

Location

Ideally located for exploring the main historical sites of Florence or taking a stroll over the Ponte Vecchio, Hotel Bernini Palace is conveniently central and perfect for those who want to spend their time exploring the city. Despite being in the square of Palazzo Vecchio, it's accessible by car or taxi and is only a short drive from the train station.

Food and drink

The hotel’s restaurant, La Chiostrina, is set in a renovated 16th-century courtyard and offers delicious modern Florentine dishes for both lunch and dinner. The lobby bar has a stately ambience and is open from 10am until midnight, serving coffees in the morning through to cocktails and apertivos in the evening. Breakfast is an extensive buffet, served in the grand Parliament room.
