Lewa Wilderness Trails

Lewa Wilderness Trails is the home of Will and Emma Craig and their three children.

The main house remains the family home and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. There are easy chairs on the terrace, an assortment of dogs wandering around and a beautiful large lawn, bordered by flowers with views over the hills.

The Craigs have built eight guest rooms in the large gardens. Each room is very spacious and stylish with polished stone floors, four-poster beds, armchairs by an open fire and outside decks for enjoying the view. There is also a spacious open sided living room with comfortable sofas, an open stone fireplace, hand carved polished tables and rich rugs on the floor. In one corner there is a small bar from which guests can help themselves.

The deck outside has wonderful views of the small river below and hills beyond. Sitting outside there is always something to spot from waterbuck and impala near the river, vervet monkeys in the trees and even elephant and buffalo coming to drink. Near the living room is a pretty dining room and wonderful infinity pool.

Activities from Lewa are very varied. Game drives explore the reserve, walks are possible and horse riding is very popular. No experience is needed for the riding as the Craigs have 30 horses ranging from 'plodders' to those for experienced riders. Then, you can enjoy camel treks, trips to the furniture and rug workshops the Craigs have set up and time in hides and sundowners on hilltops — the list is endless!
