Hotel DeBrett, Auckland, New Zealand
Located in the heart of Auckland's center, the DeBrett was built in 1841 as Auckland's first hotel. It operated for over 118 years and survived two fires, the first in 1858 destroying the original building, which was subsequently rebuilt in 1925. Throughout its history, the House Bar has been the soul of the hotel and many Aucklanders hold fond memories of it.
Today, this iconic building has been stylishly reinterpreted into a 25-room boutique hotel. Every room is individually designed and complemented with an eclectic mix of furniture, fittings and artwork collected by one of the owners on her travels around New Zealand, and internationally. The famous House Bar has been meticulously restored as Auckland's premier meeting place. A private drawing room has been created for exclusive use by hotel guests complete with an Honesty Bar where you can retreat from the bustle of the glass roofed atrium and courtyard that forms the central focal point for guests, diners and locals to mingle.
