Lotte Hotel Busan

Busan, South Korea

A large hotel with a wide range of facilities, generously sized rooms and contemporary styling, the Lotte Hotel Busan is one of the city’s best accommodation options, and a member of one of South Korea’s leading local hotel brands.

The decor is modern throughout and evokes a sense of studious calm despite the hotel’s size, while the guest rooms are far larger than average and feature sleek, simple styling but little local character.

With a choice of four on-site restaurants serving international, Japanese and Korean menus, there are plenty of dining options, and the breakfast here is more impressive than at other hotels in the city. Should you prefer to eat out, its location in central Busan means there’s a huge number of bars and restaurants in the immediate area, as well as a street of outdoor food stalls right behind the hotel.

There are indoor and outdoor pools, a huge gym, Korean sauna, casino and duty-free shop on site, as well as a golf range. A metro system at the end of the block offers easy access to Haeundae Beach in the east and the Old City in the west.

OUR OPINION:

For location this is a very good choice if you are not planning on any beach-time, and overall this is easily one of the nicest hotels in the city in terms of room and facilities.

Rooms

The 650 guest rooms are some of the most spacious in the city and are decorated in a tasteful contemporary style with a neutral palette, warm woods and modern bathrooms, all with a bathtub. Rooms on the higher floors offer expansive views of the Busan skyline and all rooms feature complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. There is one room dedicated to local hero Choo Shin Soo who spent a long stint playing Major League Baseball in the US. The room is decorated with memorabilia celebrating his career.

Location

The hotel is located in Seomyeon, one of the liveliest areas in the city. While Haeundae is more popular with ex-pats, Seomyeon is the local hot spot. The streets are filled with bars and restaurants, and Bujeon Street, behind the hotel, is a great a place to try local street food. Seomyeon station is a minute's walk from the hotel.

Food and drink

There are four on-site restaurants to choose from. The buffet-style La Seine serves premium dishes from around the world, Momoyama serves kaiseki-style, multi-course Japanese meals, Toh Lim serves contemporary Chinese dishes, and traditional and fusion Korean food is on the menu at Mugunghwa. There’s also a bakery on the ground floor as well as a lounge bar.

Families

As with most Lotte properties, the Lotte Hotel Busan has a range of family-friendly features from Deluxe family rooms sleeping three to suites with space for four guests. Most rooms can also fit an additional fold-up bed. The main attraction for younger guests is the outdoor swimming pool which is open in July and August.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a wide range of facilities including large indoor and outdoor pools, the latter open only in July and August. There’s an extensive gym, a Korean public sauna and a large outdoor netted driving range. There’s also a casino in the building along with a duty-free department store.
