The magic of Victoria House comes from its understated luxury and relaxed atmosphere as much as its beautiful setting on a white sand beach. An Audley favourite, it blends plantation style charm and character with modern conveniences and great service.
Lush tropical gardens dripping with bougainvillea and hibiscus surround the stately low-rise buildings at Victoria House. Magnificent palms and inviting hammocks sway in the breeze as guests enjoy views across the calm turquoise seas. As with all beaches on Ambergris Caye, there are areas of seagrass close to shore, making snorkelling limited to boat trips, but with two fantastic swimming pools this doesn't detract from a stay here. The atmosphere at the hotel is very informal and the service is warm and friendly whilst being very attentive.

Rooms
Staterooms, Casitas, Plantation rooms, Suites and Villas are all set in lush tropical gardens. Each is air conditioned and tastefully decorated, featuring an en suite bathroom and a range of facilities.
Staterooms are located in the main building, featuring a queen size bed and shared balcony and offering good value for money. The thatched Casitas allow you to appreciate your surroundings from a private veranda, while Plantation rooms are found in two separate buildings, featuring king size beds and a private veranda with views over the gardens, pool and beach. The size and location of the Suites varies, but all are spacious, with the Infinity Suites featuring two bedrooms for families. Whether it's Jacuzzis, kitchens or cosy living areas, each offers additional amenities, making them a more luxurious option. Villas have two, three or five bedrooms, making them an excellent option for families. Some have their own pool and many are located right on the beachfront.
Location
Victoria House is set at the quiet end of a long stretch of beach and feels quite secluded, yet it's within easy reach of the restaurants, bars and shops of laid-back San Pedro town — an unusual combination on the island. You could walk, hire a bike or take a golf buggy or taxi to get into town, which is just a ten-minute drive away.
Food and drink
The formal restaurant serves a wide range of delicious gourmet meals in the evening, while more casual lunches or dinners can be taken in the palapa thatched roof bar or by the pool. A light continental breakfast is included in the hotel room rate, but full breakfasts are also available for an extra charge. There are also some excellent restaurants a walk or taxi ride away.
Facilities and activities
In addition to the two swimming pools, the hotel runs its own dive and activity centre that can take you to the magnificent coral reefs nearby and further afield should you wish. Bicycles and kayaks are available for guest use, and there's also a spa on site, with massage service available.
