Amankora Thimpu, Thimpu, Bhutan
Sited in a pine forest, Amankora Thimpu is a quiet retreat in the upper reaches of the Motithang area of the Thimpu Valley. Dzong-like architecture incorporates high stone, white-washed buildings accessed through an enclosed arrival courtyard. The atmosphere at Amankora Thimpu is calm and relaxed and the property itself is spacious and bright.
Two accommodation blocks house a total of 16 suites, featuring a combined living and bedroom that includes a king-size bed, a reading chair and a window banquette providing views across a landscaped courtyard or directly onto the nearby stream and pine forest. The spacious bathroom opens from the bedroom and provides a terrazzo-clad bath that enjoys a view through a vertical slot window.
Meals are taken in the wood panelled living-dining area, or, weather permitting, on the adjacent flagstone outdoor dining deck with views over the stream and forest. Stairs lead down to the spa that is appointed with three treatment rooms, steam and sauna rooms and changing areas. No luxury is spared and even a short stay will leave you feeling invigorated and refreshed.

Experiences while staying here
The following activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences of the area where you’re staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident’s eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can also suggest outdoor pursuits and activities, such as cooking classes, that will introduce you to the traditions of the area’s inhabitants.
People from surrounding villages start arriving on Friday evening and come to buy and sell produce, ranging from dried chillies and yak butter to textiles and bamboo products.
