Brasília City Tour
The city tour will visit the most interesting points of the Brasília including some of the residential neighbourhoods, initially built for government workers then sold off privately. This means that, despite being relatively small, they are now amongst some of the most expensive properties in Brazil and today's government employees tend to live in Brasília's many satellite cities and commute in daily. These original buildings were deliberately constructed to a maximum of 6 stories so that they would be the same height as the surrounding trees. Many have an open air ground floor, designed to allow the air to flow freely around them.
The tour also visits the Dom Bosco Church which, although seemly an ugly mass of concrete from the outside, is actually one of the country's most beautiful churches.
Later you visit the TV Tower observatory, boasting panoramic views of the city. At the weekend the area under the tower hosts a lively market selling artisan products, cheap food and the usual tat you would expect.
See the Sports Sector, the Cultural Sector, the Palace of Buruti, local government buildings, the Military Sector and the JK Memorial, an excellent example of Oscar Nieyemer's famous architecture and the resting place of Juscelino Kubitschek.
Additionally there is time to see the Central Bank Museum, Federal Saving Bank Head Office, Itamaraty Palace, National Congress and University of Brasília.
