Day 1 San José & Central Valley

San José & Central Valley

Arrival in San José and transfer to your hotel in the city. Depending on your arrival time there may be time to explore the famous gold museum.

Day 2 Arenal Volcano

San José & Central Valley , Arenal Volcano

This morning you'll be collected by your driver to take the journey north out of San José towards the majestic Volcán Arenal. The journey should take around three to four hours depending on traffic in the capital and road conditions in the more rural areas. The hanging bridges tour this afternoon offers a detailed and unique perspective on the flora and fauna of the tropical primary forest through a series of trails and bridges with a specialist local guide. This will be followed with a soak in the natural hot springs of the area - a wonderful way to finish the day!

Day 3 Arenal Volcano

Arenal Volcano

Today you'll have the opportunity to explore the Arenal Rainforest Reserve. You'll take the Sky Tram, which is a slow-paced 15-minute aerial cable car ride, through rainforest offering endless views along the way, followed by a Canopy Tour, a 3000 metre long, zip-line system that gives you the opportunity to enjoy the rainforest from a different perspective.

Day 4 Arenal Volcano

Arenal Volcano

Today you'll explore Lake Arenal by kayak. Paddle around the shores of the lake, spotting many species of bird including the anhinga, flycatcher and kingfisher, and perhaps hearing or even spotting howler monkeys in the nearby forests.

Day 5 Tamarindo

Arenal Volcano , Tamarindo

Traveling by road your driver will take you around Lake Arenal and the volcano before heading out to the Pacific coast. Landing at beach you'll settle into your hotel on the sand.

Day 6 Tamarindo

Tamarindo

Like much of Costa Rica you can be as busy as you like here. We've included a Catamaran tour to get you started, but you can do almost anything from surfing lessons, quad biking, zip lining, trekking, cycling, deep sea fishing or wildlife treks.

Day 7 Tamarindo

Tamarindo

A day at leisure on the beach. This hotel, situated right on the beachfront, is ideal for just kicking back and relaxing. Stroll along the beach to watch the sunset, relax by the swimming pool, or swim in the sea - the waters are calm here.

Day 8 Return home

Tamarindo

Your driver will collect you this morning and take you to San José airport for the start of your journey home.
