Yacht Charters in Saint Lucia : The Moorings 514 Power Catamaran

On a private, crewed yacht you can travel through Saint Lucia’s waters at your own pace, while the skipper and cook do all the hard work. The 514 Power Catamaran doesn’t have the romance of sails, but it can travel faster, allowing you to take in more destinations. Without sails there’s more space than on a sail catamaran of a similar size, with 360-degree ocean views from the fly bridge.

The 514 Power Catamaran gives you the opportunity to explore Saint Lucia at your leisure. The skipper, an experienced Caribbean sailor, is on hand to suggest places to visit but there’s no set itinerary to follow. You can spend your days snorkeling or diving in the azure waters, hopping from beach to beach or stopping off at some of the many lively marinas around Saint Lucia’s coastline.

Above the main deck, the fly bridge has a comfortable seating area with a grill, bar and fridge where you can enjoy sundowners with panoramic ocean views. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas as well as an air-conditioned saloon and lounge. A hydraulic swim platform makes assessing the water simple, and there’s a range of non-motorized water sports equipment available.

One of the luxuries of cruising is that you can choose where you moor each night, be it offshore under the stars, or alongside a thriving marina. It also opens up many of Saint Lucia’s hidden coves and beaches which would otherwise be inaccessible. With open water passages between islands, it’s also possible to travel onward to St Vincent and the Grenadines or nearby Martinique.

Cabins

Three air-conditioned cabins are situated below deck, as well as a separate cabin for crew. The cabins have been designed to be light and airy, with a hull window and skylight. Each one has its own en suite with wash basin, toilet and shower. Storage space is available under the bed and on open shelves running alongside the bed.

Dining

  • While on board, your meals, snacks and beverages will be freshly prepared by your cook
  • You’ll be contacted before you travel to ensure that the boat is stocked with food and beverages of your choosing, as well as making sure that any dietary requirements and children are catered for
  • Your yacht charter may be an all-inclusive experience, but we suggest stepping on shore to try a few local restaurants or bars
  • Saint Lucia and the surrounding islands are home to a wide range of fine-dining restaurants, beachside bars and oil-drum barbecues

Routes

You’ll start in Rodney Bay Marina, which is lined with fine-dining restaurants, boutiques and bars. You might like to head north to Gros Islet, a quieter fishing village, or snorkel at Pigeon Island National Park: but ultimately, it’s up to you. Your skipper can advise you on the best routes whether you’d like to cover a multitude of sights, or take each day at a leisurely pace.

The gentle trade winds, calm waters and open water passages make it possible to extend your route past Saint Lucia’s waters to explore St Vincent and the Grenadines. Some of the most picturesque parts of this volcanic archipelago are only accessible by boat, including Tobago Cays, a huge horseshoe reef that offers some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean.
