Kosi Forest Lodge is located in the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, a remote and unspoilt area of lakes, rivers and coastal forests that forms part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a recognized World Heritage Site.

A tranquil sand forest surrounds the eight thatched suites that are on slightly raised wooden decks with a bedroom and screened-off toilet; although basic, the rooms are charming. The romantic en suite bathroom, with separate bath and shower, is an open-air reed-enclosed boma, allowing you to bathe under the stars. The lodge has no electricity so at night is romantically lit with lanterns, highlighting the peaceful surroundings. A large Zulu podberry tree is the focal point of the main lodge with the lounge, dining room and bar all opening onto a large, wooden deck surrounded by the forest. The swimming pool is a short walk away, with beautiful views onto a lake with resident hippo below.

The lodge takes full advantage of Maputuland's sultry weather with most meals served alfresco on the deck or around the fire in the boma area. The lake shore is close to the lodge, whilst the beach is about a 90-minute transfer and can be visited as one of the many activities on offer. Other activities include guided canoeing on the lake system, forest walks, boat trips, snorkeling and day trips to nearby game reserves.
