Sturbridge's main attraction is Old Sturbridge Village, a superb reconstruction of a rural New England town between 1790 and 1840.
Here you will be welcomed into more than 40 original buildings, including homes, meeting houses, a district school, village shop, bank, law office, printing office, carding mill, saw mill, grist mill, pottery, blacksmiths, shoe shop and cooper shop.
You can observe costumed staff carrying out daily activities as they would have been done in the early 19th century. This working museum has more than 200 acres of land so you can meander down a country lane to see a farmer plowing his field, listen to the rhythm of the blacksmith's hammer, or savor the aroma of bread baking in a fireplace oven.
